Spencer House strives to be a reliable, safe, and inclusive space for our senior friends and neighbours in the community, enabling them to age in place with dignity and respect.

Our mission is to support the social participation and inclusion of seniors in our community by providing programs and services that enable older adults to live independently, contribute to their community, and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

Did you know? Spencer House was established in 1983!

In 1983, Doreen Fraser and Ida Zifkin established a Centre for the senior members of the community to gather for a meal, enjoy each other’s company, and organize social activities. In honour of the royal visit of Prince Charles and Princess Diana Spencer on June 14, 1983, the Centre was aptly named Spencer House. The royal couple actually drove Morris Street and passed Spencer House as the senior members, and the children of the South End Community Day Care, waved.
